Gm gm,
Honestly, you know what we needed this week? A healthy dose of rumors and gossip — and boy did we get it! Wale.moca dropped a bombshell when he announced that Yuga Labs were gearing up to sell their IP rights to CryptoPunks (whaaat?). These rumors were denied by Yuga co-founder Greg Solano, but…who knows?…
Controversy also bubbled around the launch of Sony’s L2: Soneium, when users discovered that certain memecoins were “forbidden” on the chain. Multiple tokens that use Sony IP have been frozen and funds seized. That’s not very web3 of them.
It’s been a week yo.
Where it all started…
I'm now confident enough to share it with y'all after hearing it from several sources close to the matter:
Yuga Labs might be in the process of selling the CryptoPunks IP.
They bought the IP + more than 400 CryptoPunk NFTs from Larva Labs back in March 2022.
Who is the buyer?… x.com/i/web/status/1…
