October 16-20: This week in NFTs, recapped in one letter

Gm,

Have you heard? ISHARES BITCOIN ETF SPOT APPROVED. While that one quickly turned out to be fake news (great reminder to always DYOR), we did get some positive regulatory news this week after all as the SEC dropped their charges against XRP. Market is now rallying (yes, even NFTs), so it feels great to be ending this week on a high note.

Other than that, there’s a lot brewing on the web3 gaming front: The French National Assembly passed the so-called “Sorare law”, which essentially introduces the first dedicated regulatory framework for web3 games. Although still needs to be approved by the Constitutional Council, this would be a huge win for the local web3 space as the bill states that NFT-powered games should not be considered gambling. Additionally, 'Magic: The Gathering' creator's web3 game just dropped along with Forge, a web3-focused gaming social network!

Finally, if you’re watching The International — one of the world’s biggest esports events, basically Dota 2 World Cup — Nouns Esports has made it to upper bracket playoffs! There’s $3 million at stake so all eyes (and red-framed glasses) are on the DAO-backed team.
