September 1-8: This week in NFTs, recapped in one letter
Right Click, Recap is a weekly newsletter that helps you stay in the loop of the ever-changing NFT market and its community.️
Gm,
It’s been an interesting week. We just saw Grab, a popular Southeast Asian super-app that has previously acquired Uber’s operations in the region, introduce a dedicated web3 tab with onchain rewards and NFTs for its 35 million monthly transacted users.
Earlier, we witnessed some drama around a project called Creator League, a community-owned eSports league where pass holders can vote on important decisions and join competitions. Those passes are NFTs, and apparently one of participating influencers didn’t know that. Once they found out the shocking truth, they publicly quit Creator League citing their “vocal hatred of such tech”. That ultimately prompted the project, which was promoted by MrBeast at launch, to go through a “restructuring” and even fire 30% of its staff.
Despite all the hiccups, one thing is certain: NFTs have been reaching a wider audience, and that’s where the future for the technology lies. Hate them or not, we’re certain NFTs will become as commonplace as emails.
finally some science in this space
According to my preliminary research, here's my hypothesis:
number go up = good technology
number go down = bad technologybut this needs to be peer reviewed.
